Pastor Russell and "The Jelly Fish" Incident. Weird Stuff!
by RottenRiley ini have been in the borg for decades and never came across the "jelly fish" incident, is this a topic discussed on jwn or is it new to you?
i have talked to lots of people who are victims of sexual abuse, i never knew how bad things were in the past, for young girls, until my mother told me about the evil things grandma's dad did to her and on and on..... .
i believe, i feel like things are better now, but this wicked act still continues and thrives where silence is considered golden like the watchtower organization.

You are not guilty of anything.
Your mother chose to raise her kids in a church with a history of not having a god that ever bothers to show up to fulfill promises that it's leaders pretend they make on its behalf. This is a risky gamble, because if the god doesn't show up, or the leaders change the god's promises for it, it is highly likely that the kids will eventually realise that the church leaders aren't the channel of communication parents have been telling them they are.
She took a gamble. It didn't pay out. The god never showed up. The church leaders had to change the god's promises. Her kid lost faith in the church leaders and doesn't want her kids following the same bunch of loosers.
Now your mother has to pay the price and it is up to her what price she is prepared to pay. That is her choice .... not yours.

It's better to hang out with Worldlies than Ex-Dubs. They're not as screwed up as us. I hang out at a small 'Cheers' type pub with a great bunch of people and get myself involved in their antics. Never say no if someone want a hand.

I have often seen JW`s supposed beleif of 1925 as the end .....It`s not what I remember
by smiddy ini could be wrong of course , but as far as i recall 1925 was not the date of armageddon , but was the date the" princes of the earth" would be resurrected .
the princes of course were faithfull men of old such as abraham issac and jacob, anybody who had a prominent part in gods favour.. witnesses at assemblies after 1925 were constantly awaiting to welcome the resurrected princes of the earth up until the late 1950`s.
these faithfull resurrected men were to lead the rank and file into the glorious new system of christs thousand year reign.. smiddy.

They do have some pretty weird rules though.
15 Feb 1964 Watchtower, Questions From Readers
What, then, of animal food? May it be used if there is reason to believe there is blood in it? As far as a Christian is concerned, the answer is No, on the basis of principles already mentioned. Therefore, if a Christian discovers that blood components are listed on the label of a container of dog food or some other animal food, he could not conscientiously feed that product to any animal over which he has jurisdiction. He could not conclude that doing so would be excusable, for this would not be a case of an animal killing another animal and helping itself to the blood of that creature. No, this would be a direct act on the part of the Christian, making him responsible for feeding blood to a pet or other animal belonging to him.

Should I meet with the elders?
by winnie12 inso i posted my story somewhere on this board but long story short i have been expressing my doubts to my mom who is a jw.
i have been fading since december 2013 and went to a sunday meeting for the first time maybe two weeks ago.
i went only because i wanted to use the library that my hall has which had books published by the society from the early 1900's.

Your mom is the one that got you joined up to this church, so she is the one who should be doing the explaining. If she doesn't have a sensible answer, tell her to go and get one and get back to you when she has it because you want to hear the answer from her, not from an Elder.

I have to disagree with Losingit. That's what I did. In hindsight, it was a mistake.
If you want to have any sort of half decent relationship with your parents, and not be a Dub, you have to make them confront the difficult questions before you leave home .... and I mean THEM, not the Elders. They got you into this mess, so don't let them abrogate their responsibilities as parents by passing the buck to the chief idiot in the asylum.
